Hardware Recommendations for Keyshot
You can find Keyshot's system requirements online; however, they only provide the "minimum requirements," which are of little use for setting up a high-end workstation. Fortunately, rendering workload performance is well understood, and a large number of benchmarks are available that target this use case. We have developed our own recommendations for Keyshot users who wish to get the fastest rendering times for their money based on our research and testing.
Processor

Keyshot performance scales nearly perfectly with both core count and clock speed when rendering on the CPU. This indicates that the best processors are those with many cores and the ability to run at a relatively high frequency.
The CPU is still involved while using GPU rendering, even though it is far less essential if you want to use Keyshot together with CAD or 3D design applications. A processor with a high clock speed but few cores is ideal in that scenario.
Workstation-class CPUs with many cores are available from AMD and Intel; however, AMD's Threadripper family currently offers the fastest options. The AMD Threadripper PRO 7995WX, their top model, has 96 cores and is the fastest in Keyshot for CPU rendering.
However, the CPU has very little effect when rendering on a GPU. We often advise a high-clock speed processor in that case, such as those from AMD's Ryzen line or Intel's Core series. These are also useful for CAD and 3D design programs, which are frequently used in conjunction with Keyshot. A lower core count is preferable if you desire more than two video cards. Threadripper PRO supports more than one GPU.
Memory (RAM)
The exact RAM you require will vary depending on the projects you work on and the other applications you use, but for Keyshot, we usually advise 64GB at the very least. This should be sufficient for rendering simple scenes on the CPU and multitasking with the majority of 3D, CAD, or architecture apps. While GPU-based rendering requires video cards with a lot of onboard VRAM rather than a lot of system memory, leaning toward CPU-based rendering probably requires 128GB or even more.

Video Card (GPU)

The video card only needs to display your scene and the rendered image when using CPU rendering. However, the video card will be significantly used for GPU-accelerated rendering; consequently, both the card's speed and the quantity of video memory (VRAM) it has are essential to your total performance.
- GeForce RTX 4080 16GB: This graphics card is a fantastic option if you only need one or two and don't work with extremely complicated situations.
- GeForce RTX 4090 24GB: For the majority of GPU rendering customers, the RTX 4090 is our top choice since it offers the finest Keyshot performance together with an amazing 24GB of RAM. Big tower workstations can even hold two people.
- NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada 48GB: NVIDIA's professional GPUs are a good choice for people who want a lot of GPU memory and/or wish to stack multiple video cards in the same system. With twice as much VRAM as the top-tier GeForce model, the RTX 6000 Ada is the current model. Moreover, given the constraints of a 1600W power supply, up to three of these can be fitted in our complete tower chassis.
Storage Device
Primary Drive: OS/Software (SSD/NVMe): Includes your operating system and the base Keyshot installation. An SSD is highly recommended as it will greatly improve how fast the OS and programs startup, but you can also upgrade to a faster NVMe drive for a small performance benefit. The recommended storage for installation of software is not more than 10 GB.
Since the primary drive will primarily be used to store Windows and software, including all software (except large Game), it doesn't need to be that large for the majority of users; a 500GB SSD will be enough for Drive C.
Secondary Drive: Project Files (Platter/SSD/NVMe) Having a second storage (either SSD or HHD) for storing assets and effects is a wonderful alternative if you have additional money to spend or keep a lot of them around for use on different projects. Of course, an internal or external hard drive is a more cost-effective option than a high-capacity SSD if you need more mass storage and preservation.
